Program type: Interactive Session
Artists share their perspectives on accessibility, visibility and collaboration in the performing arts
During this interactive session, disabled, deaf, and neurodiverse artists and collectives with diverse experiences take the floor themselves. This is not a conversation about makers, but with them – about creating work that goes beyond individual identity, and about structural change in the visibility of disabled communities on stage.
Through conversations, visuals, and quotes, they share their perspectives on artistic practice, accessibility, visibility, and collaboration within the performing arts. Inspiring examples and best practices will also be shared, demonstrating how institutions and makers can successfully work together. The session highlights the importance of recognizing and taking seriously the artistic capital of disabled creators.
Participants are actively invited not only to listen, but to engage, ask questions, and build genuine connections – with makers and with each other. It is an invitation to create lasting change within the sector
This program ensures continuity and commitment from various connecting parties, in order to stand stronger together.
The program is co-initiated by Erika Zeegers (who connects culture and cultures, project leader Weekend Visual Language and advisor Inclusion – Oerol).
