What are the assumptions and consequences of colourblind casting within the Dutch theatre sector?
Does colourblind casting actually create inclusion, or does it erase important histories and identities?
In this session, led by Dawn Collective and The Need for Legacy, we critically examine the assumptions and consequences of colourblind casting practices within the Dutch theater sector. With excerpts, keynotes and breakout sessions with casting professionals, the conversation about representation, equality and structural change will be sparked. The audience is invited to interact, reflect and challenge the narrative of the “single story”.
This session is part of the broader Show Yourself/Let Yourself Be Seen! campaign, which raises the visibility of issues of diversity, equality and inclusion through dialogue and artistic intervention. In doing so, we contribute to a movement toward a more inclusive, fair and rich theater field – where every audience member can feel represented and where all stories matter.
